What is it?
Immich is a software “suite”, which exists as a Google Photos alternative. It consist of a server, web app and mobile apps. The mobile apps syncs new photos to the server. The user can then access these photos from the web app in a nice interface. There is also face recognition, OCR and other features.
How and why I use it
I want to sync photos from my phone to a server. Mainly as a form of backup, but also to be able to view them from my computer for example. At first, I went with Nextcloud Photos, but as the whole Nextcloud suite is bulky and quite slow, I thought about switching to a different option. The best option seemed to be Immich.
